Moving for Mental Health

On this page:

Mental Health Awareness Week takes place from Monday 13th-Sunday 19th May 2024, and the theme is Moving for our Mental Health.

Did you know physical activity can positively impact your mental health? Walking, gardening, swimming, running, dancing, yoga…do you have a favourite? Creating new habits to include regular movement will have huge benefits to overall health and wellbeing. Below are some fantastic practises that support the mind, body and soul through movement and can slot into your day quite easily.

We start the week with a wonderfully relaxing qigong practise that you can do from the comfort of your own home and is a great way to start your day! Here Robyn Treen guides us through a gentle qigong practise to build energy and get blood flowing to wake up the body & mind. Learn how to fill your energy reservoir with smooth flowing movement, and “Fly like a Wild Goose”.

Breathwork has been scientifically proven to have many benefits such as reduces anxiety and stress, increases energy and boosts immunity, improves mood and self-esteem, improves sleep and much more. Why not try this 25 minute breathwork practise with Sharon and feel relaxed, ready to start or end your day!

Yoga is a great way to physically strengthen the body and can also positively impact heart health, improve sleep through relaxation, help improve resilience and stress management, mood and energy, amongst other things.  Yoga is a great practise for all ages and a fabulous way to get the whole family involved!

Thank you to Matt Le Tissier for this lovely birthday message!
