Compassion Focused Therapy

Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) was developed by Paul Raymond Gilbert, a clinical psychologist. The practice holds that there are three affect systems within our brain; threat, drive and contentment. When these become unbalanced, it might lead to problems (link). CFT focuses on the contentment aspect, aimed at improving the sense of satisfaction within our lives. This can take the form of reflection, looking back at the people and adventures that make us happy.

Some CFT guided practices can be found here: link.

The PHA has practitioners who can provide tailored information for those interested in CFT. Click here.
