Rickie Lambert

Sports and Fitness Ambassador

Rickie Lambert is a former English footballer known for his remarkable journey from the lower leagues to the Premier League and the England national team. Born on 16 February 1982 in Kirkby, Lambert started his career in the lower tiers of English football, playing for clubs like Blackpool, Macclesfield Town, and Rochdale. His big break came at Bristol Rovers, where his prolific goal-scoring earned him a move to Southampton in 2009. At Southampton, Lambert became a fan favourite, playing a crucial role in the club’s rise from League One to the Premier League. Known for his powerful shot, heading ability, and exceptional penalty-taking, Lambert scored 106 goals in 207 appearances for the Saints. In 2013, his dream was realised when he earned his first England cap at the age of 31, eventually scoring three goals in 11 appearances. Lambert retired in 2017, leaving a legacy of perseverance and achievement.

We’re honoured to welcome Rickie as an ambassador for The PHA, focusing on youth and mental wellbeing. Through this role, he aims to inspire and support young people, raising awareness about mental health issues. Rickie is currently academy coach with Wigan athletics U15/16s, a father of 3 beautiful children speaking out for their future.
