Colon Hydrotherapy is what used to be known as colonic irrigation. It is a simple, gentle, yet very effective treatment for people suffering with digestive problems like IBS, constipation, diarrhoea or bloating, and is also valued by those looking to maximise their health through preventative measures. In its essence, it is the insertion of a purpose built instrument called a speculum, into a person’s bottom to allow warm, filtered water to be introduced. This cleanses the lower part of the digestive tract by removing waste, toxins and gases. A treatment takes about 45 minutes, is perfectly safe and its benefits include increased abdominal comfort, improved digestion, improved energy, better skin, relief from menstrual issues and migraines. It is very effective for mental health problems such as anxiety and depression too as it supports the rebalancing of the gut microbiome which produces many hormones and neurotransmitters.
I have been a colon hydrotherapy practitioner for 18 years. I align myself with a holistic health model as opposed to a medical model, and have additional qualifications in Traditional Five Element Acupuncture, EFT, PSYCH-K and a coaching approach called mBIT (Multiple Brain Integration Techniques). I’m personally very interested in the affect of trauma on the gut and focus more on the psychology of a person than their nutritional influences.
